have a look at the Dell XPS 1330 - just bought one for a client and it flies... 2.4c2d, 4gb ram, led screen etc etc - it even comes with decent earphones and has an ir media controller in the side slot.

Acer make some pretty good ones too - try and get a 7200rpm hard drive though, most come with a 5400 (opr even 4200) speed disk, and imo this can have a fair impact on performance
