I also pay £37 for my XL broadband and that is the only service I have, at best I get around 7meg, normally in the evenings/weekends its only 2-3 meg - support have stated my UBR is oversubscribed and that work was being carried out at the end of Feb to sort this out, this then got pushed out until the end of March, and now it's penciled in for the end of April (I wont hold my breath!).
Rang retentions this morning trying to get a reduction in my bill, they refused to budge originally in reducing the cost of my XL broadband and then after calmly explaining my poor speeds they gave me the option of reducing my speed to the 4 meg service (erm they rarely even provide me with that on the XL package!) then stated they would reduce my bill by £3 a month!
Then when I stated new customers are paying £31 for the same service and get a phone line as well they then offered me that, I kept stating that I didn't really need a phone line but they stated if I wanted to reduce my bill by £6 a month I would HAVE to take the phone line!
So I now get my broadband at £31, they even said that I would get a reduced rate of £21 for the first three months and then pay just £31 thereafter.
Support apparently need to come out and activate my line even though I still have a ntl phone line connected when I originally had broadband years ago, they didn't need to come out when I originally disconnected.
Are virginmedia numpty's as it seems odd the only way I could get a reduction in my price was to take out further services that I don't even want!
