Actually this is the reason why I hate VM so much. They also once upgraded my a/c with a poor deal when I threatened to leave. And they said I'm in a new 1-yr contract.

Stick to your point. Even if they increase tariff by 1p, still it's a breach of contract and you're legally allowed to leave. Don't pay heed to rubbish stories that you can't leave.
