The attenuator drops the signal. And so does a splitter. The attenuator drops it by 6db the spitter by 3-4 db.
I would remove the attenuator completely and just use the splitter. Your kit will get about 2 db's more signal this way which is better than leaving it in and taking 3-4 db's of both services.

2 db's is reall neither here nor there.
