My speed is usually good (though variable). After passing to a Linksys WRT54G router and by wireless to my computer, the test I have just done is as follows (the clock on the tester appears to be an hour slow!):

Test 4: 2048K took 893 ms = 2293.4 KB/sec, approx 18898 Kbps, 18.46 Mbps
Overall Average Speed = approx 18914 Kbps, 18.47 Mbps

If I was to put the attenuator straight into the modem then wouldn't I need one for my STB

Just q quick up date to say I have installed this Modem without any problems, I ended up placing the splitter box before the attenuator.Only problem I have now is that I'm only getting about 9 Meg on my so called 20 Meg Internet connection...
