Re: Modem set up advice

The engineer fiitted the attenuator straight into the 255 modem, with the cable plugged into the attenuator.

My speed is usually good (though variable). After passing to a Linksys WRT54G router and by wireless to my computer, the test I have just done is as follows (the clock on the tester appears to be an hour slow!):

Tue, 8 Apr 2008 08:49:08 UTC

Test 1: 1024K took 448 ms = 2285.7 KB/sec, approx 18834 Kbps, 18.39 Mbps
Test 2: 1024K took 447 ms = 2290.8 KB/sec, approx 18876 Kbps, 18.43 Mbps
Test 3: 1024K took 443 ms = 2311.5 KB/sec, approx 19047 Kbps, 18.6 Mbps
Test 4: 2048K took 893 ms = 2293.4 KB/sec, approx 18898 Kbps, 18.46 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 18914 Kbps, 18.47 Mbps
