It's not about spending power, it's about spending your money wisely. So far V1 have not got a budget as big as Sky's but they have bought some of the biggest shows to come out of the states this year with a nice mix of their own comission too!

Sky would sooner spend a million pound an ep on securing lost and then have nothing left half decent for the rest of the year.

Obviously Sky have acquired each of these series over a number of years and have continously kept the rights to the second third fourth etc season. Virgin1 is a new channel still looking for it's identity. So far it has been launched 5 months and we have already seen 3 new high profile American series launch on the channel such as the riches, the sarah connor chronicles and now Chuck. Plus others like American inventor and death defying rescues that are preety much just fillers.

And these 2 channels are now up for sale with the rest of the Network.
Sarah Connor was originally billed as a 13 ep season. It is due to the writers strike that it only got 9 not because of the quality of the programme. It's pilor smashed all records and has do faired well since. It's on the FOX network so has a much harder fight on it's hands to get a second season. Fox are known for canning even the best of series they are hard nosed like that.

The channel is five months old and already we are seeing more and more new shows added every week! I don't remember Sky one showing that much new content when it first launched.

The premiers of new shows don't happen on Virgin 1? That's *******s. We have loads of shows premiere on Virgin 1 since it launched. The Riches, Chuck, sarah connor, American inventor, Death defying rescues, Crime invasion, bob the exorcist, death row dogs, city in fear, the envy series etc.
Then there is others due soon such as series 3 of the unit, brits behind bars two Leo houlding!

Oh and by the way Living and Bravo are not for sale! It's the UKTV arm that is currently up for sale.

Vm has an extremely successful portfolio of channels why would they want to give them up and then have no hand in what they get on their platform? That would leave them open to more problems like the Sky one issues. The more channels they can own and supply them selves the better. They not only won't have to pay other suppliers for the channels but they can make sufficient advertising revenue on top of that
