Spiderplant, your post made me think the TV might be doing that so I did the following! Thank you for the train of thought!
I thought I would mess about with the settings a bit more and managed to get it working.
It looks as if the TV does some sort of auto sensing on the HDMI port, but doesn't change when you change from 780 to 1080.
What I did was on the v+ select 1080, but not press the OK to test the signal, then changed the TV to AV1. I then pressed OK to test the 1080, then changed the TV to be in HDMI, and it showed it perfectly.
I must agree, the menu looks worse, but after changing a few of the tv settings, the normal tv programmes do look better.
Band of Brothers in HD looks amazing!!!
