That sounds very strange that a stewardess would ask a passenger to call an ambulence in mid flight.
If they had any sense they'd contact the flight deck who would alert services on the ground to meet the aircraft at whichever airport they touch down at.
As for mobile phones on planes, I am completly against it !
If I am on a long plane journey I want to relax and most likely fall asleep to help the journey go by. I don't want to be hearing high pitched rubbish ring tones going off in every direction and know that there is some super dooper wave emitting device a couple of rows at the back of me onboard the plane that could 1) be a health hazard, 2) be used to detonate bombs, and 3) interfere with navigation instruments.
