Depends, do you still have internet serivces with virgin media? If so then you can get them transferred to your new account and i would do that asap.

If you dont then the email adress can be removed at any time so i would suggest that you set up an email account such as gmail or hotmail and start informing people now of the change of email adress so that if it does get removed at least people know how to contact you
