NTLWorld SMTP on non Virgin network?

Hi

I have just got an ASUS EEE PC which I bought so I could take it into uni with me as I live at home.

I have one problem though with my University E-Mail address. My university only provide POP3 access off campus and we have to use our ISP SMTP server to send email. On campus we can get POP3 and SMTP access. The problem is that I want to be able to send email both at home and at uni but without having to keep changing the outgoing server settings.

As I understand it the NTL SMTP server will only work on an Virgin/NTL connection. Is this correct? If so this would mean I wouldn't be able to send e-mails through this server when I am at uni.

I have tried using GMail's SMTP server to send emails from my uni address and it works but it comes through as :

Quote:
[GMail address] sent on behalf of [Uni E-Mail Address]
One problem with this is we are told not to send email to lecturers from anything other than our uni addresses or it might get treated as spam. As it appears to be being sent from my GMail address this might cause a problem.

Is there anyway that I can send emails using the same outgoing server both at home and at uni, which will make the emails appear to be coming from my uni address?

Thanks
Craig
