Additions:
1. Do not bother with MAC Address filtering. It is possible for a hacker to modify the MAC address of a network device, so if they find out the MAC of a device on your network, your stuffed. And apparently this is easy to do.
2. If you use Windows Vista Enterprise or Ultimate, I recommend you BitLocker encrypt your partition unless you run another OS such as MacOS or Linux. That way your hard disk is encrypted and only your USB stick can decrypt it on boot.
3. I also recommend SiteAdvisor by McAfee, which I found was an excellent tool even when in infancy to alert me if any sites I am going on are known to be a little dodgy. I beleive it is at
