This is what an 8Mb ADSL service is supposed to give
Code:
Fri, 16 Nov 2007 00:04:59 GMT
Test 1: 1024K took 1344 ms = 761.9 KB/sec, approx 6278 Kbps, 6.13 Mbps
Test 2: 1024K took 1125 ms = 910.2 KB/sec, approx 7500 Kbps, 7.32 Mbps
Test 3: 1024K took 1203 ms = 851.2 KB/sec, approx 7014 Kbps, 6.85 Mbps
Test 4: 2048K took 2437 ms = 840.4 KB/sec, approx 6925 Kbps, 6.76 Mbps
Overall Average Speed = approx 6929 Kbps, 6.76 Mbps
BUT, unlike cable, what is possible is very dependent on your distance from the exchange, the quality of wiring and the equipment at either end. Did NTL supply the ADSL modem - what does it say about connection stats? Mine currently:-
