Last december we had a new samsung 2110c box installed but Ntl (as they were then) were updating their systems, so we were given what was known as a hot box (a box pre-loaded with the full package), anyways the box decided to lose the preloaded channels and we were left with 0 channels apart from bbc 1 2 itv and channel 4, for 3 days, anyways im certain i was getting the same message when we tried to view channels that werent free, and as you say you recently got the new box that could be a reason. Faults will say it requires a tech call out but, it doesnt, all you need to do is quote the smart card number, and give them the serial number of the STB, and they will be able to pair them up and you should be able to recieve your channels.

Have you tried removing the smart card and putting it back in... are there any scratches or marks on the smart card around where the "chip" bit is?
