I came to the same conclusion - the trouble was trying to convince the callcentre of that. Without the 4 digit error code for guidance they were completely lost!
One theory I have is that my box's firmware is corrupt.
It would explain why the PIN number "vanished" last month, why the driver can no longer talk to the card, and would even explain the bizarre error message - it's using the wrong font size!
