There is no error number displayed on that message - the message is too long to fit in the "pop up" window.
That's what I've tried to explain to the callcentre on at least three occasions.

It might be possible to change the display format, if you can enter your STB's display settings option menu (use the remote control's settings function) from widescreen to another format, but if the STB isn't working properly that might not be available.
The 4:3 format error message displays identically to the widescreen one.

Try powering off the STB, remove the smart card, wipe on a clean dry cloth, replace, and reboot the STB.
Tried that - powering it off overnight seemed to work for about five minutes. I suspect a dead box, but without the error code the callcentre couldn't diagnose the problem.

Is this a new STB and has it previously worked OK?
It's a newish replacement box - my previous box failed last autumn (stuck at BOOT stage for about 10 minutes).

The only problem I've had recently was about a month ago when the box "forgot" the PIN after an update.

Update:

The callcentre has given up trying to get the error number from me - they're sending an engineer out instead.

If anyone can help with the error code, please post it here anyway. It might prevent others going through what I've just been through!
