Yes, I'm keeping an eye on this. I visited Burma about 15 years ago. A stunning country with one of the most repressive regimes in the world. The gateway to Asia in the 50s, now one the poorest countries in Asia. I really hope things will change, but with the SLORC (or whatever they call themselves these days) in charge it seems very unlikely this will happen without major bloodshed

photos of Burma, or Myanmar, as it's called these days. Check out Shwedagon (Rangoon/Yangon) and Pagan/Bagan, Burma's equivalent of Ayuthaya/Sukothai or Angkor* even. I'd love to go back, but I'm not going to put $s in the coffers until the regime changes.

*There's nothing like Angkor. Pagan comfortably takes second place though.
