On an ntl training course I was told that they broadcast roughly 1 meg per channel. This is 1 way traffic though and uses no capacity for re transmission of lost packets. AFAIK this was mpeg2. If ptv are using a more modern compression method perhaps with buffering then avc should be possible in half a meg.
