Re: A Sega Saturn that works??

Without knowing anything at all about the Sega Saturn - it does sound like it has an internal battery for remembering essentials, that is bound to have died off by now if the console is eight or so years old.

Seeing as you have no warranty to void, I'd get a screwdriver out, see if you can spot it, and try changing it.
