Thanks guys, I think I will try getting an aerial + booster to begin with as you surjest. According to this I am between 2 freeview aerials:

I must live close to you zeph! I live in Worthing near brighton, its inbetween the isle of white aerial and brighton one and there seems to be some cross over between them so I might be ok.
