Your first hop looks unusually high. If you're using a usb connection to the modem, since you suggested you might need a cd, then switch to ethernet. If you're using an ethernet connection then no drivers are needed so the problem lies either in your pc or NTL's network. The latter being possible considering the amount of packetloss I've been seeing on the network for the last 24 hours, this is getting become a regular cycle by the way,things being great for a couple of weeks then total crud for 2-4 days. Maybe Uma Thurman could take a pay cut to pay a for a few network engineers.
