I don't think it will work using the RF input on the box, it would still need a cable feed. Plus you wouldn't be able to watch different channels upstairs and downstairs, which would defeat the object of keeping the other box.

When they put ours in, they drilled through the ceiling and the cable runs down a wall... not very tidy at all, but it was done before we moved in.
