I do have a spare Cable/DSL router though. Could I setup the DMZ in the same way on that router and have the laptop's shared internet going into the second router and connecting the second router next to the laptop into the PS2?

And it works fine even with firewalls active when i use dynamic IP settings on the PS2 so i doubt it is a port blocking issue, unless you meant DNAS?
