There's a good chance that it's the modem not upto the job as you've likely read on this forum. Ntl won't just replace it for a new NTL:250 modem unless they think it's faulty unfortunately.

If you threaten to leave by asking to be transfered to retentions then that department will likely try and stop you leaving. You might be able to persuade them to give you an NTL:250 modem.
