Cool Cable modem only with dial up charges? Help plllease

Hi,

Can anybody give me a phone number, e-mail address anything other than cc number as i cannot get to speak to a team leader, or any organ grinders just the monkeys, I have had BB only for 4 years, each month the bill gets paid by dd for £17.99, until this month that is, NTL sent me a bill for £80, on querying it the said i had a land line and dial up internet calls had been made on it,
Problem 1, I don't have any line rental on my bill so are NTL giving away free phone lines now, i don't think so,
Problem 2, I use a bb modem with usb connections and no other connections to a phone line,
Problem 3, there is no telco point in the room where the pc is,
Problem 4, there is another account at this address in my 84yr father in laws name, he has telco and catv, when NTL came to do the install they were meant to do a fresh install, through the garden etc, they did not they pigged backed off of the catv(TV) connection, so am i not correct in thinking there is not enough space for the cable to come through the garden to be able to support 2 telephone, 2 tv and one BB.
Problem 5, when i dialed the number NTL said was allocated to me (because of billing purposes for bb ???) somebody else's answering machine kicked in.

Now as an old NTL employee, what i believe to be the case is the installers couldn't be bothered doing a full install on a saturday lunch time because footy was about to start, so they piggy back the modem off of the catv to do a faster install, placed a dummy line in the cabinet and f88ked off, along came another engineer a few yrs later realised the cabinet was full, barr this dummy line, they connected it to some new house and their using my line and NTL is charging me. Am i correct?

Can anybody tell me, can we trace the line back from a cabinet to see where it goes to becaue it certainly doesn't go to my house as there is not two telco points in my house.

I have called NTL on 5 occassions over the last two days with the promise of just a TL to call me, have i heard anything, NO of course not, I need a name a contact, an e-mail address, car reg no anything, can somebody help.

PLLLLLEASe, before i start going bald, Ange.

you can go to www.ntl.co.uk and click on "Contact Us" - Perhaps one of the Mods here can sort it out for you, wait for their reply, they are usually very helpful regarding these issues.

Hey! You might well have been one of the Monkey's who dealt with one of my calls ??!!.
Monkey & Organ grinder is there as a 'figure of speach' turbulentone so don't take it so personally. Having been an Ntl 'Monkey' myself for many years I'm well aware that eventually peoples esteem can quickly equate with one, but I'm glad that despite their proposal to bin so many of you in favour of more for less in Asia you still feel loyal enough not to offer any advice (just like on the 'phone really) !.

Cheers for tht Jack001, having spent so much (wasted) time on the phone I doubt that an email will prove anymore fruitful but I will use it as another means of contact. Hopefully one of the Mods will be able to help as you suggest.

After that, sod you. I wouldn't feel inclined to help you out either. Staff of ntl on here are under no obilgation whatsoever to help on here.

Not even worth an answer... Obviously your customer service skills were so good that ntl bent over backwards to keep you.

Whats up Orangebird ?. Is any of what I've written not so ?. I do think it very meritable that despite uncertainty for the future that moral can still be so high and loyalty maintained. Yes, maybe I could have phrased things differently (and I do apologise for any 'insult' or misunderstanding).
I don't expect help with my problem on this forum as a 'right' and will pursue a solution through various channels as I'm doing, but it would have been helpful both to me, and I'm sure others, to have a solution posted as, from what I see, the situation is pretty unique is it not. Oh by the way - Happy Birthday, have a good one

In response to the 'Monkey', My customer care skills were and still are excellent. I don't tell people they have to ring another number, I don't say I'll get someone to ring back, I don't omit lognotes when I say I will endorse the system, I don't promise things I can't or don't follow thru with Etc Etc. Ntl didn't hang onto me only because I chose to take a package when they moved out of Maxwell Road (Glasgow), moving with them was unfeasable due to the distance of the relocation. Without actually naming myself on here a few enquiries might reveal my ID if you really want to know about my Customer Care skills. I started with Cabletel in 1993 as a Field Sales Rep, moved into Maxwell Road with Jim Brown to inaugurate the Telesales Unit, was consistantly top or 2nd top sales person throughout my career, was responsible for the introduction and training of BB to internal staff (also taking in Cardiff). Now the only other things you need to know to ID me is that I am Female and a wee 4' 11" in height. Produce that lot to anyone who knew Glasgow Telesales and they will assure you of my CC Skills.

Hi Boss Jock, I'm intrigued to know who you are.
I worked in Customer Care and Faults at Glasgow (Maxwell Road) from 1998.
I'm still there today in a different role but one of the things I did do was roll out Broadband Training to all of the Celtic Regions.
From your description I don't recognise you so I can't confirm or disprove your customer care credentials.

Just one thought, and this is just a suggestion.
If you remember how SMS used to be set up, we had to have a telco line on the account against which to add BB. I wonder if this "dummy" line has been identified by revenue assurance as LIVE and they have tried to charge against it....I have heard of such things happening.. If this is the case, you should ring the local call centre and ask them to check this scenario.

Hi,

Thanks for the info, I really do appreciate all the help that you are offering, the quotes from before were not meant to be derogatory comments, maybe not worded correctly.

Thanks all.

Interesting style, bossjock - BJ? - not quite the way to elicit help.

Never mind, as a former employee, I'm sure you have some connections of your own...
