but I have acouple of questions...

1. the CC is still valid i.e. the end date is in the future and they have been happily taking the money upto now. so why is that range of numbers suddenly invalid ?

2. why does the link go nowhere ? when you follow it, it states that the page has been moved and that you need to go to https://packageswitch.autoregister.net/ but this then fails with fatal error 40 : could not connect to server. (from Opera, IE just says the page cannot be displayed)

I've told him to call CS and sort this out but obviously we'd like to know why as well.

Re: Problem with CC

How do you connect Scarlett? STB or stand alone cable modem?
It might be you can only go through that process via a stand alone connection.

Re: Problem with CC

.....or it could be another NTL cock-up.

Either way, it's best to contact NTL CS by phone.

I thought that as well but it was sent to him and addressed to him and the urls both resolve to NTL (ntl.com and autoregister.net) and the second link is as it says (from looking at the source)

It also has his account number on (obviously blanked out here though).

I'm fairly copnvinced that this is legit.

My dad connects via dial up modem and it failed from his computer. I 'm at work at the moment so although the company uses NTL for phonse we're not on a SACM here. I suppose I could try it from home tonight...

Re: Problem with CC

I can confim this email is 100% legit...its sent by my dept........the problem is that when a card expires you have to update your details as our merchant will not allow us to use out of date details (same scenario as going to pay for sumpin with your old card by mistake the transaction will be declined) as regards the link that used to b the correct link but it seems to have changed?

this is the correct one to use:

https://packageswitch.autoregister.n...sp?act=payment

as regards sacm no difference for updating details the page is generic

HTH

Just in case anyone still has doubts because "ntl" doesnt appear in the url, this is exactly the same link as is used for payment changes from the main http://www.ntlworld.com home page under "Your Account".
