my mate next door threatened to leave [being in the contract for bband, but not for the tv], and got a similar deal to urs [£22.49], but not including international calls, but including TV BASE PACK... so i called, and I COULDN'T get the same deal
i got crappy £40 a month:
TV BASE AND TELEPHONE LINE RENTAL
TU24
10mb broadband
1 ASIAN CHANNEL [worth £6]
so basically better off, but doing all the calculations, £5.50 a month worse off than my neighbour

Yeah indeed we'll see, how long does that discount last?
Seems obscenely cheap either way, well under half price.
If ntl can do this without losing money it shows they are royally ripping customers off for the current packages, however seeing their margins I'm pretty sure this'd be a loss leader.
Anyway keep up the good work with retentions guys, let's see if it makes ntl rethink.
They might even try taking better care of their customers rather than throwing discounts at them to make them stay, and even when customers routinely phone up to ask for discounts letting them go, a customer isn't worth anything if they aren't making you money.
I know the ntl mindset is permeating the ex-Telewest employees and they aren't happy about it. They are being set stupid and basically unachievable targets. One of the main issues being that Telewest actually credit check and care what the credit check says whereas ntl will happily sell to anyone to get the figures looking nice. After all the 'figures' can be painted to look good even if the company itself is deeply in the gutter.

They said it would last for aslong as i stay with ntl. The only thing i dont like is that they have only applied this offer for 3 months so i will more than likely have to ring up every 3 months to remind them which i dont mind because it's saving me £40 a month. And when they tell me that this is no longer available i will leave.

Re: NTL offering package to challenge talk talk
erm that's a contradiction - it's available for as long as you stay with them but you have to ring up to ask for it every 3 months.

Ok so maybe i didn't word that right. They said that they would add the discounts to my account every 3 months but as we all know how forgetful NTL are so what i was saying is I do not expect it to be added every 3 months so therefore i will have to ring up CS and remind them to add it to my account instead of relying on NTL to do it. It's gonna have to be done manually every 3 months.
Hope this comes across better.

Re: NTL offering package to challenge talk talk
You'll be leaving pretty soon then, it's ridiculous that they discount from over 60 quid a month to 23 with no contract to make sure they get the money back from you paying full price, and I can't see it lasting, they just can't make money.
Although this is ntl, for whom profit is a swearword, so maybe they will, after all a triple play customer is far more important than actually making money on said customer
EDIT: I would actually strongly question whether retentions could discount this deeply without serious management involvement.

Re: NTL offering package to challenge talk talk
Did the same, was transferred from dept to dept for about an hour, the bloke on the other end said you need to add on a load of extras with talktalk (insurances here and there) totalling £10ish. I said I will still go to them, was transferred again offerred same as talktalk but without international calling and 2mb BB for 23.99 p/mth.
Still said no...got offered it for £20.99....result.

Re: NTL offering package to challenge talk talk
When speaking to retentions did they say how long it was for ? Did they tell you they would discount it every 3 months like they told me ?
