Cabling A Heritage Building

Hi.

I work for a building company who are currently involved in the refurbishment of a heritage listed house in west London. As such we cannot use sky or have external aerials visible.

It is the intention of the owner to let the house out to the corporate market, which will probably mean that the 4 bedrooms will need to be set-up for 'entertainment' individually with NTL access.

We are currently at the stage where we are about to commence the '1st fix electrics' which basically means running electrical cables throughout the property. It makes sense to run all communications cables (phone, Cat 5, TV/cable etc) at the same time.

We would be quite happy to let NTL terminate the individual points in the rooms, but we need to run the cables ASAP (as in next week). Can someone please advise what the best coax cable would be to do this job and where we can purchase it? Would like to know the make (belken?) and products codes if possible.

Many Thanks

Get in touch with the local installs manager & ask for a roll of 'internal siamese RG59/RG6' or a roll of Internal CATV.Telco cable is the sme all over tho.A lot of commercially bought CATV is'nt up to the job as it loses to much signal over distance.
Here's a link to a post I answered much to the same a while back;

http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/sh...028#post539028

Basically,you need to get the Internal CATV from NTL .Here's the basics,
Run a length of 12in pipe from the MAIN meter cupboard to as near to the NTL street toby (small metal/plastic box in footpath outside dwelling,about 5in X5in square) That way the drop cable can be terminated in the MAIN meter cupboard.OR get NTL to run a distribution cable into the garage or basement & mount Tap banks (for CATV) & kRONE strips(for telco)
Get the spark to run the Siamese (if available) or seperate Telco & CATV from the MAIN meter box(or basement/garage) to the respective flats.Terminating this in the location of the flats individual fuse box or a walk in cupboard. Then run the Telco & CATV from the respective points in each room back to the walk in cupboard.That way,NTL will be able to make off the conection's in a central place in the flats.NTL will mount the respective Isolators & phone boxes where needed.
Anything else,PM me & I'll see what I can do.
Spike
