Am i allowed to wire my own home for NTL services?
Hi.
I have NTL broadband and Television at home, but i want to re-wire my home so that the cable extends into another room, so i can have an extra set top box. Does anyone know if NTL allow their customers to wire their own home for example adding a splitter to the cable so that when the tech arrives all he has to do is connect the equipment?
Or is this against NTL's terms and conditions?
Thanks.
PS, I am new here so i would like to say hi to everone.

I'm sure what you will be able to arrange is when the tech comes he can leave you the required amount of cable.
ntl use special cable and terminations, best to let them supply it.
When ntl did bopdudes house the tech left us ample cable to sort out as we saw fit, he just tested it to make sure it worked correctly trough that length and was terminated.
Hi right back at you, welcome to cable forum

Remember to offer tea and bisciuts, preferably decent biccies like hob nobs
I've also heard that if your the 1st call of the day a bacon buttie works wonders in getting extra's.

When my NTL Internet connection was installed I was in the process of building (actually, it was just a plan in my head) a study and hence a different location for the modem.
So I asked, and was left the necessary terminators, the remains of a reel of cable and a quick lesson in how to terminate the cable (extremely simple, as it turned out.)

No and we don't entertain such things here. Ntl are putting in place many plans to stop that sort of illegal activity.

The first step ntl can take in stamping out the above mentioned (illegal)activities is to sort out their sales people that blatently lie through their teeth and promise the world to customers!!!!!!!!!

Does that mini-rant really belong in this thread? Just because of some "Creative Salesmanship" it doesn't make these Illegal Activities right.

Re: Am i allowed to wire my own home for NTL services?
There is a MASSIVE difference between "creative salesmanship" and some of the things ive come accross lately! But yes you are right, this isnt really the place for my "mini-rant".
If anyone would like to discuss these points(theirs and mine) .Then im more than happy to in the appropriate place!
And before i get every sales person this side of timbuktoo having a go at me id just like to point out that i dont believe that you are all as bad as each other, but like with everything, there ARE dodgy ones out there!?!
