Good service by NTL

Following on from my last thread regarding NTL's pricing:

http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/sh...ighlight=gooch

I can report some good customer service by NTL. Credit where it's due.

I have a BT phone line and Sky TV so the only NTL product I use is my 2mb Broadband connection at £24.99 per month. After noticing that more and more Broadband providers are selling the same service for £17.99 per month I was beginning to feel a bit ripped off to say the least.

So after a brief conversation with NTL customer services I found that they could do nothing for me so I asked to be put through to someone who could deal with the cancellation of my NTL account. This was not an empty threat as I can quite easily swap to ADSL and pay £7.00 less per month for the priviledge. After being on hold for a few minutes I came back to the same operator who said that NTL could do me a deal.

They have promised to charge me £12.49 for the next three months. Then if I phone up again then, they will continue only charging me £12.49 for another 3 months. Again after 3 months phone up again and the situation will be reviewed from there.

Persistence does pay! Thanks NTL

Blimey, 2Mb for £12.50 is a good deal... maybe I should do the same thing, as I'm not really using my 10Mb at £38 p/month to its real potential, and I could do a lot with the extra £25.50 p/month saving.

No, not at all. Actually, it puts you in a better bargaining position.

Oooh, cool. Cheers, OB

It's funny but I remember thinking that I wanted the fastest speed possible but now that I've got it, I've realised that I don't actually need it. I need to work out what I do want/need and then brush-up on my haggling skills

Re: Good service by NTL

Why should NTL give you a deal and not everyone else who pays the £24.99 for the 2mb connection.

1st for you to take up ADSL you need to pay the activation fee almost £40!

If NTL are going to do these deals for one then everyone should be allowed the deal, treating one customer differently just becuse they threaten to leave is wrong. If they want a better deal then NTL need to look at their overall pricing and devise the best price for all. If that is reducing the prices to £17 then so be it.

Which ISP was you using to get the price reduced as all £17.00 ADSL packages are capped ones and if I remmeber correctly capped at less than 30 gig a month.

Quote:
Entityonline 2 Mbps - £19.99 per month - Capped at 2Gb monthly (£1.50 per Gb thereafter)
Vispa Home Max 2 Mbps 12 month contract activation £47 £17.99 month 2 gig cap
Infact you can have 2mb ADSL for £9.99 a month for the first 3 months then £15.99 capped again at 2gig
I could go on looking at more if you go uncapped its more like £30 for a 2 Mb.

If you are going to try and bargain a deal then you should match like for like which at the price you quoted you didn't. If you have the BB that cheap NTL should also cap you at 2 gig a month.

Oh Boo Hoo!!!

I got a good deal and shared it for anyone else in the same situation. Deal with it!

I set up Wanadoo ADSL for a relation a couple of weeks ago and they did not have to pay a "£40.00 activation fee" as you put it.

She is paying £14.99 per month for the first 6 months and then on to £17.99 per month there on. This is for an up to 8mb service where in reality she is getting 2mb.

The monthly download limit is 2GB where NTL's is uncapped. So what. If you're not big on downloading it doesn't matter!

Perhaps not but if someone who has NTLs 2mb service with the ability to download 30 gig a month complains and gets it reduced using other adsl ISP products they should use like for like 2mb with 30 gig cap or if they can find one a 2mb connection with no cap at all.. for £17.99 then yes complain.
