How to get 1 MEG BB for £9.99
Hi guys, Ive been lurking in the background for while a while, finially got around to starting a thread. I finially convinced my parents to buy a new computer on the premise that they could get a 1MB BB from NTL for £9.99 on a 12month contract.
About 2 weeks back, I went back to NTL to check out the latest prices and its shot up to £17.99, with only a measly discount for the first month. Is there any way that I can still get this offer, at £17.99 its worth going for a 2MB ADSL service with no download limits (plus.net).
Also, ive just confused myself reading another thread. You can get the 1MB BB without having a phone line, right or wrong?
So: Any advice or lines I could give customer services would be great. Please let me know if this isnt allowed on this forum.
Cheers
Ben

Re: How to get 1 MEG BB for £9.99
Ring them and tell them you are interested in taking their services but cannot justify spending more than £10 per month and ask if there is anything they can do deal wise as you have been told that you can get a 2Mb service on ADSL for the same money but would prefer to use NTL.
Do you have any services from NTL at the moment? If you are paying for the connection I can't see the problem but i'm guessing it's your parents paying.

That's right.
They only force you to take the phone line if you want a TV package.

I've checked plusnet out and they offer 2meg unlimited at £14.99 but I think this is unlimited but traffic shaped.

You need to ring Sales not customer services and see what offers they have at the moment, the £9.99 one has finished completely but there may be something else to tickle your fancy

Yes, you can get the NTL 1Mb BB without a phone line. You must bear in mind that you will have to take a BT phone line to have ADSL BB.

Good luck getting a decent level of service and customer support though I've seen a LOT of complaints recently and that's after they claimed to have solved some of their "issues".

One of there engineers told me there can be a up to 3 month wait in the North West due to there being no capacity and no equipment installed. They are waiting on equipment that is not turning up on time. In the mean time there are selling it in every supermarket concession stand knowing how long a wait there is and not telling the potential customer.
How course they will blame the suppliers and BT for it. If they know there is a problem at the gate then they should close it for a time to let the back log clear.
Allegedly of course
And check out the 1 gig per month and the additional costs thereafter for there 9.99 offer

Re: How to get 1 MEG BB for £9.99
Is it worth saving £8 a month to have such heavy restrictions and hassle. People value broadband very low these days. No wonder so many isp's are in trouble when people wont pay over a tenner for broadband.
