Simple Bill or is it? :(
Hi all
Would be grateful if someone could explain this one:
Got my first bill for ntl broadband 1 mb.
First bit was fine: 20-11-05 to 19-12-05 £17.99
but second???: 18-11-2005 to 19-11-05 £1.16
Can someone please tell me where on earth this amount came from?
As 17.99 * 12/365 = 0.59p for one day?
Many thanks.

Re: Simple Bill or is it? :(
dates billed for are inclusive? - i.e. you are being charged for the 18th & 19th Nov - although it should have been £1.18 ???

Re: Simple Bill or is it? :(
You have just subscribed to or changed services, I assume. Ntl now bill monthly in advance. If you change services mid month, your next bill will catch up on the difference.

Re: Simple Bill or is it? :(
The dates are inclusive, and it looks like they charged 58p a day, not 59p.

Re: Simple Bill or is it? :(
Actually, it's probably just £17.99 / 31 (days) which is 58p per day.

Bang on Paul. You are right there mate but how can £17.99/31 * 30 days = £17.41? and not £17.99?
In other words I am being billed £17.99 for 30 days use!!
How does that work?

Re: Simple Bill or is it? :(
The monthly charge is exactly that, it doesn't matter how many days are in the month. The daily rate is only used for partial months when you change service.

Well in fact I have not changed service but started from scratch.
I am not complaining about the rate because it is very fair using 31 days in a month as more acurrate calculation would be have been (17.99 * 12/365.25) * 2 days... giving £1.18.
So I made 2p!!!!!

Wonderful! Go and buy yourself an ice cream, and give the change to some poor homeless person.
