Please need help - fraud

I have a landline and 2mb broadband from NTL (btw very happy with the service), in 2 different accounts.

Today i tried to make a phone call, but my line was dead. To cut a long story short, i was told from customer services that on 25/10/2005 i have asked my landline to be moved in another address

The problem is that neither i called them for that, neither i am moving a house. I asked them for the address that it was asked to be moved, and it was somewhere in York (i live in Portsmouth). I canceld that action and i will have to wait till Monday to get connected again

I am sure that someone is playing games against me, because something like that happened again to me 2 months ago. I received a bill from "3" (mobile network) saying that i have a contract with them and i owed them 20 pounds I called them, saying i never made a contract with them, and they refused to give me the store details in order to go there and check the details. This account was canceled so i could not make any further action.

But now, i think the same guy has done that with NTL . I am suspicious about one man, but without proof i cannot do anything.

I want to write a letter to NTL in order to ask more info if they have, do you guys think they have any more info? Do they keep records for the calls the receive? Maybe they have the phone number that guy used to call them.

Where i should send this letter? To the address noted in the back of my bill?

I know, so many questions, but as you may imagine i am quite worried and angry. I have a password on my NTL account, i am sure no one might know it, and i think the cc representative didn't asked for a password before he/she took this action. I know that because most of the times i have called them the just ask for name and 1st line of address.

Please help!!

I would advise you to check your credit rating from experian.co.uk for 2 pounds. when result arrive look for unusual activity.Search the net on how to deal with identity theft.........

Hope this somebody is not going to borrow huge sum on a credit card & ask you to deal with it before you act...........

Your passwrod. despite you thinking it is secure, may have been guessed or otherwise become known. Just to be sure, I'd get it changed with ntl, and indeed anywhere else that you use a password too.

And try not to pick something too obvious - mother's maiden names are really dumb, 'cos virtually everyone knows that is commonly used, and I doubt it would take much to find out who most people's Mum is

Indeed only last week I got called at work, something about a free computer mag subscription, asked all sorts of plausible comany research type stuff to see I might actually but PCs, then at tehn end wanted to verify they had spoken to me by getting the first two letters of my mothers maiden name

1st of all thank you all for your replies. My password was not at all obvious, but just in case i have allready changed it. I am sure the cc representative hasn't asked for the password. I will send a letter to ntl for this matter, and ask them to deal with my account only if "i" say the password.

Where should i send this letter? To the address in the back of my bill maybe?

Where can i get the cheapest credit report online? I want it to be from a reliable company....

My university (im a student) has a legal advice service, and i am going there next week. I think they can advice me better than the police.

it is always £2, for a standard report... experian or equifax are probably your best bet

Could be worth spending £11.75 with these people.
