NTL and Billing

Ok, I'm slightly annoyed...
NTL have taken 2x £37.99 from my bank account for internet... twice this month already.
If that wasn't bad enough, it's left us desperately short of funds down at the bank (including one nice letter about an unauthorised overdraft thats cost us £25) I'd change banks - and thats probably going to happen in the new year.
I'm not sure if other people get it, but, we used to get a nice email to say 'payment made' and all that.. but we havent been getting that reminder for some time (was good, knew where we were up to...)
So, other household bills are going to be put on ice so we can survive (yes, we might be on benefits, but as I'm on sick, there's no other choice and we have to eat...)
which means I've got no choice but to go and have a word at the bank, then go and have a word with NTL and then make some sort of arrangement with the bank so that NTL only get what they're due ONCE a month... and if NTL get all antsy about it, I'll just grab and send bank statements to 'em to prove my point.
Software glitch at their end? maybe... but it's no excuse, not really. When the money has been there for them to take as due, they havent taken it and we've left well alone to adequately make sure it's there when they do.
Except for just recently. And thats whats bothering me. BIG time.
I'd like to phone, but as we got rid of the phone service (and the tv aswell) I don't fancy freezing in a pee-sodden phone box (with no door) to tell them - not when I'm not up to that sort of thing.
Right now, I'm so fed up. so I'll leave this as is.

Re: NTL and Billing

If you pay via DD, then contact the bank to refund the funds under the DD Guarantee.

Re: NTL and Billing

yeah, I'll do that.. see what happens... I wonder if my bank will understand that once a month means that and 'not every other week'?... and if they can get to grips with 'pay NTL on the 19th of each month ONLY, or I'll be in to kick some shins'... we'll see..

my bad for posting this in the wrong forum... wasn't looking what I was doing...

gavnad is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: NTL and Billing

the thing about dd is the contract is between you and the originator...in this case ntl...your bank will not get involved in regulating when ntl take payment...as for the indemnity...yes you are entitled to your money back due to non-notification but remember that you will still owe the charges claimed which will very likely claim in one lump after your indemnity has been paid to your bank...just something to be very aware of
