Taking advantage of 'one month free'...

...Isn't as easy as it might appear.

I'm under the impression that NTL's billing system(s) are un-understandable to the average man, and therefore NTL will get away with this offer working nicely and not having anyone take advantage.

Wouldn't the system bill one month in advance anyway? Anyone tried their luck?

(I realise some may see this as morally incorrect. Look - NTL use me as a consumer, I'll use them as a company. )

Re: Taking advantage of 'one month free'...

Well, you will enter a 12month contract anyway, so what basically happens is you get 12months service, but only pay for 11.

I beleive (although it is different in different areas, and i'm not 100% sure how it all works) that your first bill is a part month + a whole month, therefore perhaps you only have to pay for the part month, and it is the whole month that is free?? Just guessing really

Re: Taking advantage of 'one month free'...

It really is complex, innit?

But - the thing is - does a 12 month contract to those of us who've already finished our initial 12 month contract? Surely we can downgrade after one month only (if I say upgraded to £24.99 and then back down to £17.99 - broadband), and NTL would actually owe me £7?

Re: Taking advantage of 'one month free'...

i told them I was going to bulldog a few months back when the 10Mb thing wasn't around. they offered me 6 months free and I said no - i then got put through to someone else who offered me 12 months free and a rather long explanation of how NTL are able to offer me it free for 12 months. Honestly, I wasn't bothered about that bit!!!!
