Virgin's mates rates
I was wondering if someone could explain the mates rates package for me, my house mate has just started working for virgin media, we now have a nice staff package at home which im very pleased with.
Ive been asking about the mates rates and was told this is what they get.
1tb TiVo
Extra hd set top
Tvxl
Calls weekends
60Mb BB
free fitting
£43.90 mates rates
Normally £59
Im trying to work out if its worth transferring a friend onto the mates rates, however at the moment they have telephone and xxl broadband.
Is it worth them switching over? ie is there a higher tier they can go on to benefit from it?

Re: Virgin's mates rates
There are full details on the Mates Rates scheme on the Virgin Media employee intranet, along with an email address for any queries

I'm paying £45.01 for mates rates. Is this the correct price?

It depends what services you have and when you joined Mates Rates.

Re: Virgin's mates rates
There is no 'correct' Mates Rates price. There have been several different versions of the deal since it launched and each one is affected different by price changes
If you want to see if there are any changes you can make, I'd suggest you contact your mate who can advise you of the current offer

Re: Virgin's mates rates
Hi, Apologies for bumping up an older thread.
I've got a friend who used to work at Virgin looking to try and get me the mates rates at the moment, I've seen a few figures floating around, just wanted to ask a couple of questions:
1. Do the deals include line rental? Or do I need to add on £13.90 to get the total cost?
2. Is is just the one deal thats available? I.e. you must have 100mb broadband, Anytime Calls and XL Television Package?
Many Thanks in advance for any advice on this.

Your mate has to be a current employee to get you Mates Rates? Of course, he will give you all the information that is needed.

Apologies, I should have said he still has friends that work though, who I know in a roundabout way who may be able to do this for me! Sorry should have made that clear in my post :-)
I'm sure he will get me all the information that I need, I'm just being impatient :-) Moving house soon, so trying to be ultra organised getting things sorted, don't want to be left weeks without the internet!

Re: Virgin's mates rates
AFAIK there are 2 deals both include line rental.
I don't know if I can post more detail without breaching info rules. These deals replace any legacy packages. You can add extras at normal price to package.
You need to be a new customer or adding an RGU to be eligible and your mate needs to be a full time employee of VM. There are other rules too, contact your mate for full details.

Re: Virgin's mates rates
Hi everyone. This is a question for BenMcr.
I am currently on a vmretailer deal, but, recently a virgin rep came to see us to tell us about another one which has become available to us.
I want to upgrade to one of these, but, I have a question which no one has been able to answer for me so I hope you could possibly help.
Q. It's actually the add on. I would like to add the Sky Sports and Movies collection. However, I am currently paying £26.50 for that, but the deal says £32.75
If you could possibly help Ben I would be most grateful as I would really like to upgrade.
So, A. If I upgrade can I get the same add on as i currently have at the same price.
£6.25 more for exactly the same add on does seem a bit of a difference.
VMT in advance

Thank you for your promp answer Ben.
Do you know who may be able to answer my Question. ? No one at customer services I spoken to seems to deal with "partner" deals. The rep that came to see us is only a "field" rep.
If you know of a number at CS that could help I would be most grateful.
Thank you
