Virgin media Collections Vs Old contract
Hey all,
Im looking for your advice guys, Virgin Media Collections package looks totally excellent for us and better value for money.
Only problem is we are 6 months into a 12 month contract which is more expensive and less attractive than the Collections package.
Do you think there is any chance of if I phone them up and offer to sign up to 18 months on a collections contract then will let me effectively downgrade and pay less.
We currently pay just short of £65 a month and the package we are looking at is just over £45 so its a good saving.
Im guessing no chance, but just wanted to see if anyone had done anything similar
Thanks

Re: Virgin media Collections Vs Old contract
It is certainly worth phoning up and asking.
I would think they would let you change as they are actively offering it to existing customers. And, as you say, they will be signing up to an 18 month contract so it is in their interest to do so.
Give 150 a call and ask. Let us know what they say

Re: Virgin media Collections Vs Old contract
give them a call.
I was paying 77.00 a month for 100Meg, XL TV with Tivo and M Phone.
Rang them and now got the same as above plus another Tivo box for 61.15 p/m

Don't forget to add the £13.90 phone charge to the £45 package. Still cheaper though. I am thinking of doing this myself but I will want to keep my V+ as my second box rather than get the V HD box.

Re: Virgin media Collections Vs Old contract
Was on a loyalty discount with 10mb medium bb.Thought it an ideal time to move onto new Premiere collection without a major price difference.
As i already had a 500g tivo and v+ box only requirement was for a superhub for xl bb. Superhub being installed next week, so getting premiere collection and caller display for £56.15 for first 12 months and no install charges.

Re: Virgin media Collections Vs Old contract
I phoned up today to discuss my package as follows
V+ HD box
V box
Sky sports and movies
XL TV
XL BB
XL phone
Including £4 loyalty bonus it was costing £108
Recording HD content on a v+ doesn't give many hours of space available
So we were looking to upgrade to Tivo at an extra cost, then I noticed the new VIP collection was cheaper than I was already paying, at £103.90
Will be getting 100 Meg BB
Tivo
V+HD
SKY Premium HD channels
All for a £4ish saving!
Not forgetting the £49 installation costs.

Re: Virgin media Collections Vs Old contract
How did you talk them into keeping your V+ instead of having it swapped for a plain VHD one?

Re: Virgin media Collections Vs Old contract
I didn't, the CS advisor told me the V+ would be relocated and the TIVO would be the main box.
Haven't had an email confirmation yet so anything could happen between yesterday and 10th may when the install is due to happen!

Re: Virgin media Collections Vs Old contract
That's what happened when I called retentions. They suggested that I keep the V+ and hand back the VHD. Talk to the engineer(s) on the day. They're human too and sometimes even drink tea

Re: Virgin media Collections Vs Old contract
When we returned to V/M for all 3 services, (we only had Internet before) we got a good deal with Full TV and Full 24/7 phone, along with an free increase to 30Mb Internet.
We are now saving £18.50 a month and even have all the channels we had with Sky

Re: Virgin media Collections Vs Old contract
Not so good now I'm afraid to say, we got our first bill yesterday, and they are charging us £10 a month more than was agreed?
So that has cut a hole in the money we thought we would be saving.

Re: Virgin media Collections Vs Old contract
Can you keep any loyalty discounts and current V+? If so, then for me the Première Collection is an upgrade in BB and an additional Tivo all for £10 less.

Install happened today...and the fun begins...tech's PDA was telling him to de-activate my V+HD box and card and take away and then leave us with an old samsung V box, until i pointed out that i have signed up for the VIP collection and that i was supposed to get HD tv on both boxes (the samsung wasn't HD compatible). This led to a phonecall to CS while Tech was here to arrange for him to leave the V+ here with a de-activated card and i then had to call Faults after he'd finished to get the card re-paired to the box!
All sorted now, but why could it not be a simple job of swapping 1 old samsung box for the v+ and put the tivo where the v+ was?
Good old Virgin, have to make things complicated!!!
