Moving - So Need to Cancel Virgin Cable

I'm hoping to move to an area which, sadly, isn't served by Virgin Cable... so will have to cancel my broadband / phone and tv.

Was is the procedure? Ideally I would like to give the appropriate notice while keeping my service on until I actually leave. (I've read here that people have given notice to have their services disconnected immediately)

Sorry if this isn't in the correct section - I couldn't see where would be best to post my query.

Re: Moving - So Need to Cancel Virgin Cable

Best way is to phone 150 (or 0845 454 1111) and speak to the Movers team. They can then arrange everything including the pick up of equipment and disconnection on the day you leave

BTW you are required to give 30 days notice to close an account - if there are less than 30 days left before you leave you get charged the equivalent amount of the 30 days on your bill

Re: Moving - So Need to Cancel Virgin Cable

Thanks Ben.

Theoretically, it all seems straightforward. I just didn't want my services cut off before we left ...... moving might be stressful enough without my 'puter, tv and phone

Re: Moving - So Need to Cancel Virgin Cable

I've given my notice at the end of July so that was no trouble and was told that I would be sent packaging to return my V+ Box, Control and Modem/Router ... but the packaging hasn't arrived. Before I phone and ask where it is, would it usually have been sent to me by now?? We are off at the end of August

Re: Moving - So Need to Cancel Virgin Cable

As far as I know, when you disconnect they send someone to collect the kit the day the services stop, but it would be worth double checking

Re: Moving - So Need to Cancel Virgin Cable

I had my packaging in the post today although I can't believe that its just a large plastic bag with no protection for the equipment at all. I'm guessing it will be binned and doesn't need any protection- just sending back

Re: Moving - So Need to Cancel Virgin Cable

Good luck on your move to Cornwall FairyFairy. I'm sure you'll be extremely happy.
My husband and I will be moving to West Cornwall in about 18 months (following my youngest daughter who hopes to be down there before Christmas).
It's a shame that Virgin cable isn't available down that far .. :-)

Thanks Moira. It is a shame Virgin Cable don't go further into Cornwall than Saltash. Good luck with your move when your time comes
