Virgin media asks for my password?

I was filling in their 'Contact Us' form and noticed it asked for all your details, including your password which isn't hidden with *****'s.

This came as a shock to me because anyone in their customer service department that reads the form i have filled in will have all my confidential details such as address, phone number, email, etc aswell as my password.

Maybe i'm a bit cynical but why should i enter my password there for anyone to read who comes across it. I understand the person who would make alterations to my account may need it but at that point they can call me instead of having every tom, dick and harry who comes across it having complete access to my account which is linked to my debit card.

Your account Customer Verification Password is on the very first screen that any agent sees and is also accessible within the account pages, the only use that this password has is to verify that you are who you say you are nothing more.

It should not be used as a generic password for your email address either.
