Can't work out if we are paying too much

This is our current package according to our latest bill

Talk Unlimited
Calldispl
TV Size: X L
1 Additional V Box
V+ HD Monthly Fee
TiVo Monthly Fee
Broadband XL(20)
Telephone Line Rental

Total Charge: £73.01

We only have the TIVO box and kept the V+ when we had TIVO installed. A friend of mine is getting a TIVO box installed soon and was told she could keep her existing V+ box and wouldn't have to pay anything for it, yet by the look of our bill we are being charged for both the TIVO box and also the V+ box. It was hard enough to understand the bill before but now the bill is so basic it doesn't give you a break down of what exactly you are paying for like it used to

Re: Can't work out if we are paying too much

XL Phone
XL TV
XL (30) Broadband
Tivo
V+
Caller Display
08 £5

£53.96 a month, so I would say that there are better deals out there and if your're willing to sign up for another 12 months you might well be able to get one.

Cheers

Grim

Re: Can't work out if we are paying too much

VM must do better for existing customers

I am paying £63 squid for
L Phone (evening and weekend calls included)
XL TV
Tivo Box
10mB Internet

Now they want to charge for Credit/Debit info protection with the New Internet Security that they have introduced. I already pay £4 for that on the old internet security - so I think they owe me some money. Have to get on the dog and bone to the Phillipines Call Centre [English is not their strong point] and try to sort this out.

Re: Can't work out if we are paying too much

As far as I'm aware the maximum that's ever been charged for an upgrade of the Virgin Media security software (either PC Guard or Virgin Media Security) is £3 for the 'Total' version if you were on package that didn't include it.

However, when the latest version (VMS v10) launched, anyone paying the additional fee had it reduced to £2.50, and had their entitlement upgraded to the Identity+ version, which is a new chargeable option for all customers.

Hi BenMcr

Who do I contact to get my personal protection included for inclusion in the internet security.

Why are there so many people on better deals than me and they are also paying a bit less???

Hi Richard S,

Unfortunately you have to haggle with VM to get a good deal. Not very British I know... Ring them up and choose the 'thinking of leaving' option, that gets you through to nice UK people who can do deals. Play hardball and quote some equivalent deals from Sky at them and see what they offer. Be aware any new deal will probably involve a 12 month contract.

I wouldn't bother paying for internet security. There's equally good, if not better, free elsewhere e.g. Avast

It should already be available within the Virgin Media Security Package. What does it say you have when you log into My Virgin Media and go to My Apps?

I was going to phone them to haggle the amount we are paying but I think we must still be under contract for when we had the TIVO box installed. I am sure it was 12mths or 18mths, but can't recall right now

Just checked to see when we had the TIVO box installed and it was in April last year, so still a couple of months to go even if we are on a 12 month contract

Mine is 12 months ,Just ask politely Pointed out BT infinity( in my area and pushing hard costs) & Sky. Said I was think of moving. And I was. As I was then out of contract did a deal. Wish it had been 2nd V+ not Tivo , but still lower cost for more ( even if only for 12months) cant be bad. Can always change next year!!
