Transferring email to a new account

Hi all.

Due to a change in circcumstances(divorce) I will need to move out of my current house and move into a new propety which also has VM services. My wife will be staying in the house and keepign the services but I want to keepo the old ntlworld email address when I re enable the Vm servcies at my new propery. Do any of the experts on here know if this will be possible, or how I should approach VM to explain my point ?

Thanks in advance

Re: Transferring email to a new account

I am sorry to hear of your change in circumstances.
The big question is - who is the account holder?

Re: Transferring email to a new account

For various reasons to do with BT when we first bought a house my wife is the account holder although she has never used an @ntlworld.com address. All I want is the email address to be transferred to my new account, I probably wont be having the same package of services she has. so she can keep the legacy "discounts" that are applied to the account.

Do you think this is possible ... ?

Re: Transferring email to a new account

It makes a difference I believe if the email address you want is the primary(I.e account holders) address.
One other option would be to create a gmail account, and download all the mail into there?

Not possible if the account is staying live.

It depends on whose name is on the account at your old house if it is her name then no, as she would have to close that account completely and then clear DPA together in the same room in order to transfer the account details to your new account which would leave her without broadband and unable to get Virgin Media services for at least 3 months.

I kind of doubt either of you want this to happen as it would cause further acrimony.
