Problems getting customer discounts applied?

I have Broadband M and a BT phone line, but are going to get TV M+ and Phone XL now.

I picked up a Virgin Media TiVo pack from Currys for £24.99 which gives free TiVo 1TB activation (saving of £49.95) along with a refund of the £24.99 you pay for the pack. You have to phone a special 0800 number and give barcodes and receipt IDs etc.

I phoned up the 0800 number last night to add TV/Phone, which was done, however I was told by the foreign sounding lady that it was the end of her shift now and she had to go. I didn't get a correct price for the services (£31.40 and then going up to £53.90 when I expected £46.95) but when queried I was told to call back today.

I'd seen that existing customers can get 6 months free Phone XL (possibly when switching from BT) (http://shop.virginmedia.com/existing...e-phonexl.html) and was hoping to take advantage of the offer. When I'd tried to do the order online, this offer came up, so I would expect it to apply now.

I phoned up again today to confirm the price and ask about the discounts. Spoke to a foreign sounding man. The price was confirmed correctly (£46.95 including Caller Display) with only the installation fee to pay (£49.95). However, when I asked about the Phone XL discount, after a few attempts/put on hold/checks, I was told that the code wouldn't go in. He/we wondered if it was because of the free TiVo 1GB - however, the pack which gets the offer clearly says in the small print: "Offer available with other current offers except with the Virgin Media broadband take away pack and customer who benefit from My Rates, Retailer Rates, and Mates Rates discounts.", so I would expect that taking up this offer wouldn't exclude me from taking up the free Phone XL offer.

Does anyone know anything about this? Am I not going to be successful, even if I try to get through to someone more helpful?

I saved £49.95 by not having to pay the activation fee for the 1TB TiVo, but I've lost the £48 discount for Phone XL - so I'm £1.95 better off really - I'd just like to be £49.95 better off by getting the free Phone XL as well.

Any thoughts?

It's likely that because the order is already booked on the phone offer can't be added on without cancelling the install and starting again

So, because the person I originally placed the order with was in a hurry to leave for the day and said to call back the next day, I can't get the discount?
