Cutting costs
Hello everyone and Happy New Year
I am currently paying over £100.00 per month to Virgin for:
Talk International
Talk Unlimited
Talk Mobile
Call Displ
T V Size: X L 1
Additional V Box
V+ HD Monthly Fee
Broadband XL(20)
Phone,T V & B B Saving
Bundle charges total
£58.10
Telephone Line Rental
£13.90
Premium TV channels
Skymovie 2,SkyMovie 1,Sports 1, Sports 2
Bundle charges total
£29.50
Your package total
£101.50
I feel this is excessive in comparison to Sky's deals. Does anyone have any ideas how I can bring down these charges?
The Additional V Box in the kitchen ( I don't know how much I am charged for this as my Virgin media bill is not itemised) is not even an HD box, it's a very old Explorer box that I originally had before getting a new V HD box installed and the engineers just moved it into the kitchen.

Re: Cutting costs
Hi Rags, sorry to piggy back your thread, but I am also in the process of trying to make savings!
We have the VIP package with additional box, I am not really sure if I am tied in for 12 months or not?
Our average bill is approx. £100 and with 2 children we feel we are watching less and less and using the phone much less.
I want to ring and ask but every time I have tried I truly do not understand a word the operator is saying, get frustrated and hang up!
Any help from more experienced members would be greatfully accepted.
Cheers,
Jason.

Call 150 and take the option thinking of leaving us during office hours at least you will get a uk call centre not the indian ones up until 8pm in the evening but i stand to be corrected on that , explain to them what you want and they will help.
If you upgraded in the last 12 months you may well be in contract but be able to downgrade i would make that call.
Let us know how you get on.

Good luck especially with BG!.Goose1.
Although as far as gas/elec suppliers are concerned it may pay to switch i do and have a 3 year fixed rate deal very competitive with EDF, i switched with energy helpline who were very good.

Re: Cutting costs
I think we are all trying to save now. I cannot understand when they tell you that exsisting customers can get a tivo box activated free & they still want to charge £49 99.
How much is a tivo box monthly & How much is a V+ box monthly if in another room.
or How much is a V+ box in 2 rooms only

Hi nashville.
I recently ordered a TiVo and am paying no activation fee and its certainly not costing me £49.99 and i think this offer is open to all existing customers.
I am also going to be keeping my current V+ moved to another room also no charge is being made for this either so free mutiroom , or putting a socket in the bedroom so offers are there for existing customers if you ask.
TiVo is £3 a month but vm have done me a good deal on that which makes my new bill cheaper then my current one,but i had to enter into a new 12 month contract much like a new customer to get it.
Not sure how much 2 V+ boxes would be a month though.

British Gas and SSE have dropped too today. Suspect they will all drop. Why do people always jump into fixed price deals after a price rise!!! surely the time to do it is after price drops have filtered through

Judgement call really,i fixed my price for three winters before the price rise so even with these modest price drops my fixed price still works out cheaper ,i agree though you need to pick your fix time but the long term deals like mine soon disappear.
