Help required to understand cancelling
I'm looking for a bit of help in terms of cancelling my Virgin services. I have the VIP50 package and pay my next monthly bill on 14th October 2011.
If I cancel my Virgin services today, as I'm out of contract, will my TV service be essentially reduced to "Freeview" straight away?
Will I get 30 days usage of my phone and broadband or will these be cancelled straight away also?
Finally if I do decide to cancel today, and I have to keep my phone and broadband for 30 days, what would I roughly expect to pay in November based on VIP50 prices?
SKY are going to take the first direct debit on 28th October, 14 days after my TV with them goes active. I'm just concerned about things getting messy i.e.
14th October pay Virgin full rental
28th October pay SKY full rental
14th November pay Virgin ???????
Any help or info will be greatly appreciated. I did call Virgin but got a little confussed.

Re: Help required to understand cancelling
You will have (and pay for) 30 days of all of your current services until all three go off and your contract ends in 30 days.

Re: Help required to understand cancelling
Thanks for the info, but I'm still a little confused.
My last bill date was the 22nd September 2011 and will be taken by Direct Debit on the 17th October 2011. The billing period for this covers from the 14th October to the 14th November. So am I correct in thinking that I'm actually paying for my services in advance?
So if I cancel today, my services will come to an end 30 days from today which will be about the 09th November 2011. As this falls within my prepaid billing period, as mentioned above, I'd actually get some form of refund as I've not used my services right through to the 14th November?
So in my first post I had:
14th October pay Virgin full rental
28th October pay SKY full rental
14th November pay Virgin ???????
however it's more likely to be:
14th October pay Virgin full rental
28th October pay SKY full rental
14th November pay Virgin not a penny, in fact possibly get money back?

Re: Help required to understand cancelling
Yes to refund. If you are stopping as a customer totally, they will eventually send you a cheque for any credit remaining.
If you are only stopping some services, they give you a credit and reduce future bills.

Re: Help required to understand cancelling
Can I suggest that you leave it until your pay date to cancel, that way you've got a 2 week overlap of services just in case there's any issue..

Re: Help required to understand cancelling
Depends whether he is keen to cancel.
I have done both, and recently got a cheque from Virgin...no hassle, though, just a waited a bit for cheque..approximately 30 days after final day

Re: Help required to understand cancelling
Some really good advice and info, I appreciate it.
I love Virgin, and love the services they provide however there has been a few channels launched on SKY that I can no longer wait for.
I've waited 16 months for Premier Sports and it hasn't arrived. BoxNation launched 10 days ago but both Virgin and BoxNation have went fairly quiet about the channel actually coming to Virgin. My wife wants SKY Atlantic.
Worst case scenario, I join SKY and hey presto these channels launch on Virgin. I suppose I can always come back to Virgin after 12 months.
