[Merged] New Look VM Bills - No itemisation
I have just received my New Look Bill which says that it's been redesigned to make it easier to understand.
What is obvious is that VM now only give a bundle price, line rental cost and other fees and charges.
My bundle charge just says that I have Talk Unlimited, Calldispl, Broadband size L, Dual Tel & BB Loyalty Discount and Fully Itemised Billing. It doesn't say what the individual item charges are.
I can't see that it is easier to understand. It just hides some figures so makes it harder to understand

I agree. Obfuscation is the word to use here I think.

re: [Merged] New Look VM Bills - No itemisation
The indivdual item charges (apart from phone line) don't matter for the core services, as they haven't been the only charge for a long time - ever since Virgin Media came about have been around it's been charge + discount line.
Because of that people have complained that that they are paying '£37 for BB XL' which has then needed explaination about the discount line to cost against the service, and that 'it's not a discount if everyone gets it' etc
The billing now matches how Virgin advertise the services, so long term will make it easier for you to get a better idea what you are paying and how much it will cost to upgrade to other bundles.

Better in that you can actually understand what you're paying for now?

That's the idea. See Bens post #3 for more of an explanation.

re: [Merged] New Look VM Bills - No itemisation
Trouble is, the new look bill doesn't match the "bill_explainer.pdf" file that's on the website. Just like, in fact, the individual items didn't match the prices that Virgin displayed on the website (except for the "discount", that was undocumented and you just had to believe it).
But on the new bills the individual services are still listed, it's just the cost of them that isn't.
And if you're paying for detailed call listing, well, there's no list any more. So maybe there'll be a "discount" to offset the service that you're paying for but aren't getting, and can't see what the cost is by looking at your "bill".
Will ASDA be next I wonder? Get a trolley full of shopping and get a till slip saying "groceries £87.38", and get told that that matches how the goods are sold, because individual items don't have a price on them. If you want to know the price you can look at the ticket on the shelf.
Good to see that the Virgin staff find it a better system anyway. I suppose that any system that means that you never have to explain any detail's good for Virgin.
But it's not a bill is it, it's a statement. But a monthly statement usually lists the individual items that you've been charged for during the month.
I think you provide a good service Virgin, good stable TV service, good stable broadband, but you suck when it comes to taking money, and telling us why we owe you the final total.
What next, a letter every now and then telling us that "some prices are changing", but not bothering to tell us any detail?

Asda don't do bundle discounts, it's silly showing individual prices when at the bottom of the bill there is a discount

re: [Merged] New Look VM Bills - No itemisation
Off topic but most supermarkets including asda have the discounts at the bottom of the bill in big letters "MULTIBUY SAVINGS"
