Offered a good deal but don't have faith in it being true

I phoned earlier through to retentions as my bill went up £12 per month as it had been a year since I signed a new contract with them where they applied a loyalty discount due to major issues I had with the BB service. Initially I was given the usual excuses and they said they would drop the monthly price by £6, meaning I still pay £6 more than I was. I initially agreed, then had a change of heart and phoned back with the intention of truely cancelling. The guy then gave me a deal where I save about £15 per month.

The thing is, he sounded very casual and was so quick saying it was all done, that i'm beginning to doubt the changes will occur to my account. Also, I do not really have anything in writing as to what was said/agreed. I asked several times if this was the new price fixed for 12 months (new contract) and he said that yes it was and it was all sorted and would take effect immediately.

What guarantee do I have? Will I get a new contract through to sign detailing price exactly? Or do I have to wait for first bill, check it's ok, then check the second one is the same price? What if they rise it the second month? I have heard of loyalty/goodwill labelled service charge discounts cancelling themselves after 1 month and people having to ring every month with major hassle getting them re-applied. I want to ensure this is fixed for 12 months as I consider it a pretty good deal. Not amazingly good, but cheaper than I was paying during my loyalty discount last year "due to bad service" by £3 BEFORE price increases even occured.

Thanks
