a) If you try to skip the bill, it will go against your credit rating (which follows you around)
b) "so called late fees" - please clarify

Yep would not be a problem if they wanted to, You will have to pay council tax at your next address and the debt collectors could trace you that way i would think ?

Debt collectors have ways of tracing people

Re: leaving virgin for sky

OK...

Firstly lets be sensible, you signed and accepted a contract with Virginmedia. Legally they can and will hold you to that contract/.... So thats the facts dealt with.

Now lets look at what you are telling us.

VM are consistently over charging you, believable they did it to me for 4 months.

How can you fix this.

Talk to VIRGINMEDIA and keep talking to them untill you get a good C/S rep. You don't need to run and hide and Virginmedia have various packages that cost a lot less then your current package.

Also how much of your bill is phone call charges? A lot of Virginmedia staff treat the customer as if they are the enemy, a few listen to your issue and WILL find a solution that you and Virginmedia find acceptable.

Running away is your last resort, if after 50 phonecalls (yes it may take 50 and its a free call so who cares) you can't get a good result.............YES RUN AWAY LOL

Again unhelpful,

This kind of "stand offish" approach is almost the norm within Virginmedia. As "part of the team" on this unofficial support forum do you not think you could of offered a more helpful informative and positive approach?

If you are moving to a non-cabled area they cannot hold you to the contract and will not make you pay

not the case they also have a national service via BT phone line that you would need to take or pay the early disconnection fee if still in contract

Wrong. The contract is for the property that the customer resides in at the time of taking. So they agree that they will be there for 12/18/24 months. So the contract can be enforced.

Re: leaving virgin for sky

I'd like to know when the contract was taken out and how long it was for and is left.

Being bankrupt must be a horrable thing to deal with and I'd not wish it on most people, more so if they have a family etc. But anyone who has become bankrupt would assumingly have been having major money problems for many months and certainly not the sort of thing that happens in a very short period. So to have signed up for a £66 per month service (reguardless of having been charged £80 per month) is, with the best of respects not a responsable thing to have done at a period where you clearly must have already have been having major money problems. And VM may also look at things that way if your contract was taken out in the few months before becoming bankrupt. As many will often come up with excuses to get out of a contract.

I'm not saying the op is lieing, but it is not very responsable to sign to a £66 per month contract when your having major money issues. Call VM, they might understand and let you go if you can proove your bankrupt and thus cant pay for the services as it would cost them more to get the money for the remainder of the contract where your not getting a service than it's worth for them.
