Phone service downgraded to far

Recently I changed my package from XL TV +L Broadband + XL phone, to what I thought was XL TV +L Broadband +L Phone. The saving of £36 a year was welcome- we don’t need use of the landline during the day.

However I checked online today (foolishly I know just over 7 days after changing the contract) to discover I had been put on M phone- free calls at weekends only. This is not what I wanted and not what was described to me a week ago.

Virgin are refusing to do anything about it although the rep I spoke to on the phone agrees the package as it stands would have been ridiculous to change to.
What can I do? Why are Virgin behaving as if there is no competition? In a year’s time I will just change providers. I am disgusted at the way they have treated me. Any helpful suggestions are very welcome.

There are two companies that offer cheap calls to Virgin Media customers:

18185.co.uk has the cheapest rates, but you have to dial an 0808 number preceeding each call.

First Telecom are a little more expensive and use a plug in dialler box to re-route calls.

Both will save you a significant amount on non-geographic numbers, mobile calls and standard calls outside the weekend free period.
