Not happy whats so ever....

Just checked online to see if my bill had come through and well it's a joke. My setup was:

All channels except premiums so no sky sports or movie channels.
1 V+ box
1 normal box
Broadband @ 10mb
Telephone

Paying about £80 a month which we never really bothered about, however a few weeks ago we had an issue with our home telephone and so we got on to virgin who promptly sent an engineer round the next (very happy with service). We thought all was well until the fault happened again a few days later and once again they sent an engineer round who fixed the fault.

A few days after the second engineer appeared the fault occurred again. Customer services finally got the hint this wasn't going away and sent a senior engineer round. Now this is where I get really annoyed, he goes to the corner of the street tinkers in the Cabinet come back and asks what services I am on.

i tell hime the package we had and he makes me a counter offer. He tells me he can get me the same package but with 20mb internet for £65 so as an opportunity like that I obviously take it.

Now this is where it gets slightly annoying. Everything was fine and the internet had indeed been upgraded but I have just checked my bill for the month and it is not £65 but £110 now i'm sorry but there is no way I am paying that not for the services I am receiving especially when you can a better deal on VIP package for £10 less.

Am I in the wrong or do I have a genuine complaint?

Re: Not happy whats so ever....

It certainly sounds like you are overpaying for what you have, however I have no idea what has happened

I would suggest contacting Customer Services first thing in the morning

Re: Not happy whats so ever....

Well thats a lot of money for not a lot of service as with sky for £110 you would get.

Sky world for £52 plus 4 mulitroom boxes takes you to £92 plus sky phoneline and BB for another £19 taking you to £111.

This would include all sky channels including sports and movies+ all the free to air hd channels.

I wouldn't get the HD multiroom as its being given for free from September and Sky will be upgrading everyone for free if they have a HD box.

So in summary you get from sky

5 sky boxes each with all channels including sports movies and free HD channels
upto 20Mb bb
and access to sky anytime+ ondemand service.

If you get the new standard sky hd box its free, if you want sky+HD its £49 a box. A bit like VM's "activation" fee. You will also have access to Sky's new "sky go" service which looks amazing.

Also its very rare for a sky customer to be over charged, its almost expected and accepted on virginmedia.

EG- No one on sky is paying the "old price" for the tv service or the broadband, a lot of VM customers are paying the "old price" but may pay a conversion fee to get the new price.Even in September when the packages change, if your on a lower package you will be given the higher package for FREE, Virgin would charge you just to give you the new package then charge you extra per month.

In 8 years of being a sky customer not once did I pay an activation fee or a conversion fee. They even offered to install me a brandnew phone line for free, free install free connection, free equipment,

@ the OP I built your bundle and got this.

Monthly cost
Your bundle

£38.00
Virgin phone line

£12.99
Your extras

£10.00
Total

£60.99

An you were paying £80 for it.........................

An you have probably paid a £49 activation fee.

Re: Not happy whats so ever....

I have been a virgin customer since cable and wireless and to be honest I am really disappointed with what has been going on. I am going to ring them first thing and to be quite frank I am on the verge of ringing sky and seeing what I can get.

Thanks guys.

Re: Not happy whats so ever....

Going from bad to worse.

Just had a delightful argument with a charming lady at virgin, basically she told me we're were paying for our 20mb connection from may 12th to july 20th in one bill. I told her that engineer didn't say anything about this occurring and that he said that our monthly bill will be £67 a month.

The lady said there was nothing she could do about this and I have to pay the £110 bill because I had used the product, now I pointed that of course I used the product because I was under the impression that it would be £67 and that they are now saying I have to pay the £110 bill because they miss-sold me the product by telling me that it would be £67.

So we had this argument with me pointing out that if I had sold her a product for £30 a month and when the first payment was due I turned around and said oh sorry but the first bill £60 then it will go to £30 month she wouldn't be happy with that. Her response was as long as I had used the product then yes she would be happy with it, now I am sorry but no you would not as you would have been miss sold something. Virgin are doing this to me and are not admitting it.

At this point I just told them flat out that I had been looking at sky and I could get a better deal for £69 a month and she went on to say that the internet being slower and that I would only be entitled to a 40gb allowance as I used 90gb last month and probably have an average of this it would obviously have an effect on me.

I said I wouldn't really bothered about this to save face but I would gain in having premium channels HD. However she had the attitude and brass to say: "So your telling me you would sacrifice your internet just to save £2 a month." I was just in shock at her attitude and well she was stiring for a fight over the phone I pointed out I am not here for a fight I just want to sort this situation out and get a better deal.

She told me that the best she could do was £77 a month and for me to pay the £110 I told her no and that I would not be paying the £110 she told me that she would wait till Wednesday to speak to the engineer and see what was said and she will get back to me.

I can all so bet that the engineer will have no recollection of saying this or putting in writing this down.
