Bill Compare !

Hi I got a deal for 7 months for L to XL tv discount and decided to upgrade the rest while i had a engineer so i upgraded broadband from 20 - 50 meg and got a HD+ and kept my old silver samsung as a extra box being told it was only £6.50 a month extra paid all activation fees ect .

Heres last months bill
£65.49
Telephone Line Rental £12.99
Talk Evening and Weekends £4.00
Phone, TV, B'Band XXL Discount -£21.50
1 TV Size: X L £15.00
V+ HD Monthly Fee £0.00
Add Set Box(es) Discount -£8.50
XXL 50Mb Broadband £45.00
TV XL Offer for 7 Months
Shown Below In "Your Promotional
Saving" Which Will End 24-JUN-11
TV Size: X L £26.00
Your Promotional Saving
-£7.50
Phone usage charges £0.00

and this months

£72.99
Telephone Line Rental £12.99
Talk Evening and Weekends £4.00
Phone, TV, B'Band XXL Discount -£21.50
TV Size: X L £26.00
1 Additional V Box £15.00
V+ HD Monthly Fee £0.00
Add Set Box(es) Discount -£8.50
XXL 50Mb Broadband £45.00
Phone usage charges £3.78

Ive seen in another thread that £45 is overpriced for the 50 meg now and i cant get 100 meg not that i need it but can i either get some money back and/or just get it reduced to i believe £35 with a phoneline ? I dont know the date of the price drop .
Secondly i was never asked if i prefered a V box to my old samsung would i be able to get it swapped over and take advantage of the free hd activation or would it be free because i have it activated on my HD+ box .
and overall does this seem like a good price been with them since cable and wireless days and ive heard about loyalty discounts will they be part of the £21.50 although ive paid it while the tv was discounted if theres no way to save money i might drop from 50 meg and phone L.

Any help to save me money is appreciated.

Regards

DiGi

You aren't paying £45 for 50Mbit, that is the price before the bundle discount

Yes, if you want a V HD box instead of the SD V Box you can order one here for £20 http://shop.virginmedia.com/existing...de-to-vhd.html

Re: Bill Compare !

Thanks for the link but i wont be paying the £20 for it i felt ripped off enough paying for the activation fees and installation fees last time.
I will call and see what discounts i loose if my package is downgraded now ive looked into it i see it maybe it is £4 on tv xl and £17.50 on BB and none on phone ? Maybe i jumped the gun a bit but with more price rises coming.

Cheers

Re: Bill Compare !

If you had got it swapped 7 months ago when you upgrade to V+ HD you would have had to have paid the V HD activation fee at that point, you are saving £30 by doing it now

In regards to discounts, not sure what those figures are but you are paying current prices for 50Mbit and XL

50Mbit is £45 minus £20 of the discount = £25 current price

XL TV is £26 minus £1.50 of the discount = £24.50 current price

Remember if you downgrade from XL tv you will have to pay £5 V+ HD fee to keep it running, so the saving may not be as great as you think it is

Re: Bill Compare !

I was probably going to keep the tv as xl it was the bb and talk eve and weekend my mobile now has 500 minutes so even that doent get used now. The samsung still does what it needs to it just seemed silly not to upgrade if it was a possible freebie.

You're wrong about the price of 50Mb if you look >>HERE<< You see the standalone 50Mb product is £35 and the bundle even if only bundled with a phoneline is £25.

I've seen you say the 50Mb is £45 a few times now but I can't find any reference to this price point. Can you link us to the advertised price showing £45?

Or is it a made up price to make people think they're getting a discount...

Infact I like virginmedias ideas on this. I might start selling things but price high then "discount" them to the proper price if people buy more than 1.

So in my shop a 10p mix will be 22p but if you buy 2 the price is 20p all in as its a bundle actually saving the customer 24p....See what I did there.

The receipt will look like this.

10p mix 22p
10p mix 22p

price 44p

-24p

2 for one off -24p
bundle discount for services 24p

TOTAL 20p.

Both of those prices include a discount entry.

But the good news is that the bills will be changing this year to make them easier to read and understand

Re: Bill Compare !

So although i see benmcr point that i technically wasnt paying £45 a new way could be said that i should get the 21.50 discount from the new lower £35 price but the problem arises because of reason the £21.50 discount was given and wether that would be lowered because of the lower priced package ?

I hope the new bills are a bit more clearer it not very often I challenge the prices i pay.

No it couldn't

The £35 is £45 minus £10 discount if you have no other services. You have a £20 discount because you have the phone line.

It's one or the other, NOT both

Yes, depending on what reductions you make you may well get a lower discount - but that discount would be appropriate to the services you chose to have

Re: Bill Compare !

It absolute maddness how the VM billing services works.

Virgin rang me at 10am this morning offeing 2v+ boxes on top package with sports/movie a HD for £55. I assume this didnt include the £35 I pay for BB.

I told her a firm NO! and asked to be removed from the marketing list. I just know when my bill came IT WOULD NOT be £55 although even if it was Sky currently give me 2 500gb boxes with Skyworld+multiroom+2HD subs for £50 a month.
